The strategies of Microbio in the development of new drug with our proprietary symbiotic fermentation technology platform are:
To discover and develop new drug from traditional Chinese herbal medicine with less toxicity and superior clinical efficacy.
To develop more potent drug from glycosides of traditional Chinese herbal medicine via bio-tranformation.
To screen extensively and identify drug candidates with proven efficacy from the pools of medicinal herbs and indigenous microorganism metabolites.
Short-term goal(3-5 yrs)
Development of MS-20 as a new drug and other new bio-transformed product discovery plan
MS-20 development to market/commercialization:
MS-20, a soybean based bio-transformed product, is currently in phase III (for reduction of neutropenic fever in cancer patients) & phase II(for improving quality of life in liver cancer patients) clinical trials.
Development of MS-20 complex:
A combination of MS-20 with 5 additional health promoting herbal ingredients for cancer prevention and treatment in colorectal cancer patients, expected to complete FDA IND application in Sept., 2008.
Lead compound discovery:
Establish bio-transformed compound library/data base, provide bio-transformed compound library/data base to collaborating research institutes, use of high-throughput technology platform to discover and identify new bio-transformed compound with therapeutic activity.
Mid-term goal(5-8 yrs)
New drug discovery plan
Expand bio-transformed compound library/data base through global alliance with international pharmaceutical companies.
Through the techniques of separation, purification, identification and the use of appropriate animal models in pharmacology and toxicology studies to evaluate and confirm the potential drug candidate in oncology.
Synthesize derivatives of potential drug candidate to proceed through IND/NDA registration.
Long-term goal(>8 yrs)
Establish different category of bio-transformed compound library/data base through global alliance with international biotech/pharmaceutical companies.
Collaborate with international biotech/pharmaceutical companies to develop therapeutics in the area of metabolic diseases and oncology.
